The Banker horse is a feral horse breed that is relatively small in size. It can reach heights of about 13.2 to 15.0 hands. In terms of disposition, it has a convex body and oval shaped legs. The color of this breed includes chestnut, bay, brown and dun. It walks with long strides and is quite amble.
This breed has lived in North Carolina’s Outer bank islands for several centuries. It is thought that they came to inhabit these islands sometime during the 16th century. There are many theories on how they become feral.
Recently, their existence on the islands have brought out controversies, when it was pointed that they could destroy nesting animals like turtles and that they could consume the spartina grass as well as maritime forest completely, even though they need it for survival, although later theories confuted this. This is wild and hence not used in any competitions or horse events, although their usage would bring them into a better plain of existence.
