The Chilean Corralero is another breed of Spanish horses that came to Spain in the year 1541. Many horse experts believed that the horse came from the Southern Peru region. The purest form of the breed was only found in the 19th century after the breeders started putting in extra effort to retain the horse in its original gene pool.
Among horses maintaining their gene pool and the lineage was very important and that is what fetched the owners the pride and honor. Horses are not meant for cross breeding in most cases and there are so many fine breeds with each one having their own specialties. The Chilean Corralero was believed to be a finely structured horse as per its usage.
The Chilean Corralero has a distinguished set of features with an equally mounted head and a flat one. It measures about 1.40 to 1.43 meters in height and could weigh up t0 370 kilograms. The Chilean Corralero has small ears and eyes that were well marked and overall improved the facial profile. The muzzle was small and fine but very strong at the same time. The hair on the mane was abundant giving it a bouncy style, and the tail also followed suit. In this particular kind of horse it was found that the shorter the horse was the more muscular and sturdy it became.
In the past the Chilean Corralero, in places like Chile was used as a work animal mainly. This speaks for the fine muzzle the horse has developed. It was also used in wars, transportation and in plantation fields. Many farmers even used the horse to herd cattle. All these attributes made the horse extremely agile and strong. Over the years of farming and nurturing the Chilean Corralero developed its own individualistic characteristics.
