The Dales Pony is the native of Yorkshire in England. It is an ancient horse which is a result of many popular breeds including the Pennine pony, Norfolk trotter and even the Wilson Pony. The mixed lineage of the horse is still rich with many classics in its blood line. The Dales Pony however gained popularity in England for its ability to quickly navigate through extreme terrains with less effort even under heavy weights. In England the main means of transportation were mostly horses until the advent of railroads and roadways. Only after the railways were completely established the horses started diminishing in size.
The Dales Pony measures up to 14 hands and is mostly black. They also have other color variants such as grey, brown, and a rare roan. They have slightly bigger hooves that help them in trotting. Over all the Dales Pony has a calm and peaceful temperament and they are also highly intelligent horses. They are also known for their stamina and they are reasonably easy to maintain with a fairly low consumption of food. They have a silky feathered coat and especially their tail has long silky feathers which is high light for the horse’s looks.
The Dales Pony is popular for several traits and has a unique combination of traits. This can probably be attributed to its gene pool and be called a mixture of many great horses. The horse experts even refer to this horse as an all rounder due to its varied capabilities. Children can also sue it for riding because they are mostly calm by nature and can be easily mounted. While on harness these horses take instructions very well and almost do anything you ask it to do. Expectations can be easily met while riding the Dales Pony.
