Gypsy Cob for sale

If you are looking for a very different type of horse breed consider the Gypsy Cob. As the name suggests, these horses were primarily bred and used by gypsies in earlier times as part of their traveling purposes. This is a horse breed with a considerable history behind it.

These are small cobs and they were used mainly as draft horses. They have no specific color and common colors that are seen in this breed are the skewbald, the pinto patterned, and the piebald. These cobs were bred by the gypsies and they were used to pull their mobile homes. Today, though gypsies no longer use them for travel, they are still bred by them to keep the tradition of using and cultivating these special horses alive.

These cobs are extremely sturdy, which is why they wee used by gypsies to pull their carts. They are sturdy animal with plenty of stamina that enabled them to trot all day long. Their typical height was about 13 to 15.2 hands. Owners of this horse breed will find them to be an intelligent lot, versatile in their ability to do tasks and very enduring. What is best liked about this breed is its appearance, which is quite majestic. The look of the horse is simply beautiful and with its feathers you can see it clearly standing apart from other horse breeds.

If a horse has to be classified as a Gypsy Cob, it must have an abundance of hair and feet feathering. By nature this horses is known to be very calm and quite an excellent companion. They are very faithful and have considerable stamina. This is why they were used by gypsies for pulling their mobile homes. However, today they are no longer used for such purposes and are bred for other needs.
