The Haflinger breed is a breed of small horses that originated in Austria in the Middle East. These horses were primarily used by villagers to ride the mountain terrains, for forestry and agricultural work. This breed gets its name from the village of Hafling, which is in Italy now.

The Haflinger horse is chestnut in color, and their prominent feature is their mane and tail which is thick and double and which comes in shades of white. Their height is around 14 hands as they are fairly small horses. In spite of their small size, they can carry great weights and they are a very good help in the mountains. The main thing about these horses is that they are very people oriented and they are a delight to own, be it for trail riding or driving. These horses are mainly used as dressage horses for children because of their small size and also because of their gentle, intelligent and loving nature.
