The Lipizzan breed was developed in the 15th century, when Barb horses were cross-bred with strong Spanish horses. This is a breed that is closely associated with the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, Austria.
In terms of its appearance have heavy sloping shoulders, strong legs, arched neck, deep chest and long, but at time hollow back. Its tail is thick and strong. The average height of this horse is 15.1 to 16 hands. This is a very fine and majestic looking horse.
This horse is pretty strong and shows absolutely brilliant action when drawing carriages. The usual colors for this horse are grey, brown and brown-black. Today, the Lipizzan breed is the only one used in the Spanish Riding School in Vienna as their “Dancing White Horses". In addition to being an excellent horse for dressage events, this breed is cross-bred in countries like Slovenia to develop study farm horse breeds.
