Cross breeding between two varieties of horses enables one to get a distinctive breed having the good qualities of both the specie. The Quarab Horse is a cross between the American Quarter and an Arabian breed. Thus, the Quarab body may look like the stock horse type or the Quarter Horse. This includes muscular forearm and gaskin and well rounded hip. Again, it may resemble more like the Arabian type with long well arched neck, long barrel and level cramp. This of course depends on the ratio of the blood of each. The United Quarab registry carries stipulation or conditions for the required ratio mix. It was also the first registry developed in 1989 to promote the cross bred variety. Since both the breeds are highly intelligent, the Quarab Horse is deemed to be so too.
The Quarab Horse is a popular breed and is suited to many events such as roping, reining, dressage, trial riding, jumping, driving and endurance riding. Since they are usually mild mannered they could be easily trained and molded to perform certain set tasks or purpose.
Quarab Horse usually stands 14 To 16 hands high (1hand = 4 inch). This is quite suitable for large riders and experts. It also has the stamina for withstanding a long and jumpy ride on a trial full of ups and downs. Since it has the qualities of a Quarter Horse it can sprint at a fast rate while exhibiting the stamina of its other half; the Arabian breed.
The Quarab Horse over the years has proved to be sharp, intelligent and agile depicting its cross breed values and has been a prized procession for horse lovers around the world.
It is not endangered specie like many other breed and will remain in the annals of equine history as a needy and efficient breed for many years to come.
