The Rocky mountain horse has its origin in Eastern Kentucky. These horses are believed to be the descendants of the Old Tobe and they were owned by the North Americans and the Europeans.
The Rocky mountain horses are medium sized horses. These horses are helpful in all the seasons. In the olden days these horses were used for plowing in the fields, for cattle, for riding, or to be used for a buggy. The Rocky mountain horses are cold blooded horses and can bear any weather. They do not require any fancy barns or stalls for their protection. The average height of these horses is 14.2 to 16 hands. A chocolate brown body color is associated with this breed, but these horses can be found in any solid coat colors. These horses have a natural ability to travel at a great speed. They can travel from around 7 miles an hour to 20 miles an hour. Now days the Rocky mountain horses are used for pleasure riding, endurance riding and also in shows. This breed is very gentle and a strong horse, with great endurance and stamina.
It can be said without doubt that the Rocky mountain horses are one of the finest natural breeds. These horses are very easy to train for any activity and also very easy to manage.
