The Saddle bred Horse as the name itself suggests was earlier meant for saddle seat riding. It was a breed of horse which was crossbred successively by the Kentucky plantation owners who felt at ease riding simply on its saddle for most part of the day. Its former name was American saddle horse. Although it was mainly used for saddle seat riding, it was later groomed for dressage, hunter/jumper and even western riding. Still one fact became quite noticeable in its overall characteristics is that it is a picture perfect horse and rightly called as the show horse of the world even to this day. This was mainly because of their flashy appearance with unusual high stepping style and exaggerated actions. At first sight they actually capture the heart of any horse lover, yet they are very sensitive breed and very alert.
The Saddle bred Horse gained fame and recognition as breed during the civil war of America. These horses were mounted by many famous generals then and withstood hardship and endurance unlike any other species.
A Saddle bred Horse has well sloped head with graceful shaped ears. They also have large eyes compared to the other breeds and this accentuates their beauty even further. The neck is long with a clean and smooth throat and is arched. Shoulders of this specie are deep and sloping. The legs are straight with broad flat bones. All in all it is looks like a robust and stunning animal. Its color is usually black, bay, chestnut or brown, but there are cases of it having other colors.
Saddle bred Horse can be fine gaited and able to perform not only walk, trot or canter, but able to perform extra efficiently and gloriously on shows. Their endurance power could make them appear repeatedly for several shows or series of public performances and would remain so for years to come.
