The Shagya Arabian horses were developed in the 19th century in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was developed for cavalry. They originated originally in the Babolna, in Hungary roughly around 1816. Currently the Shagya Arabians are found in Austria, Romania, Czech Republic, the earlier Yugoslavian nations, Germany, Hungary and Poland. However, it is also exported to other countries and is bred all around the globe.
