The Spanish Mustangs are a breed of horses that have descended from the Spanish horses that were fetched to America by the Spanish conquistadors during the American invasion. A few of these horses either broke loose or were set free and were immediately acquired by the local American communities. During the time of the colonization of Europe, the number of these horses had increased to a great extent. The new residents of America misidentified the Spanish Mustangs as the Cayuse, Indian Ponies and Mustang which implies to no owner.
A number of people still mistake the Spanish Mustang as the American Mustang. During the mid 1800’s several pure Spanish Mustangs were selectively bred with the Arabian and English horses in order to develop the quality of the breeds. This resulted in several breeds like Morgan, Palomino, Quarter horse, Paint and Walker. The Spanish Mustangs are currently extinct.
