Among the equine breed the Spotted Saddle Horse is a relatively new breed of horses. It was initially developed by crossing Spanish American type pinto horses with the gaited horses such as the Tennessee Walking Horse to produce a colorful horse. The outcome was a breed that was good looking and with a smooth gait. It also had the stamina and strength needed for a good horse. They were also gentle and easy to handle, surefooted, agile and were especially good for rough and steep mountainous terrains. In course of its short history several crossbreeding with other types of breeds such that the Saddle Horse registered in the registry under the Spotted Saddle Horse were of several types differing both in gait and appearance of their body.,
The Spotted Saddle Horse has a pinto coat pattern with white behind the head and above the hacks and above the basic face and lower leg markings. The underlying coat can be of any color for the purpose of registration. They are usually about 15 hands in height and their head is of moderate length and refined. Their eyes are well set and exude soft expression. Ears are moderately long and are erect as if they are always listening with alert. Their neck is slightly arched, muscular and is moderately long. They carry their head high with a good head carriage. Again, the chest is of moderate width and well muscled and they have long sloping hips and shoulders.
Spotted Saddle Horses are most sought after for their performance in showy businesses and entertainment. They have an excellent and eye catching show walk and show gait and canter. Due to their physical beauty the Spotted Saddle Horse is bred and distributed worldwide in the fields of entertainment and showy sports activities.
