One of the oldest breeds of warm blood horses is the Swedish Warm blood. This breed was developed in Sweden in 1621. Most of these horses were specifically bred for riding, though there were other warm blood horses that were bred for farm work as well.
Originally the Scandinavian horses were very small and their height was about 12 to 14 hands, but in the 16th century there was a desire to improve the quality of the existing local horses and for this purpose the Friesians were imported from Netherlands. There were also other breed of horses imported from Denmark, Germany, England, Spain, Russia, Turkey and France. Also an examination system was put in place by the Swedish Government I 1874, thus resulting in the existence of the Swedish Warm blood horses. The whole idea was to produce excellent riding horses of high standards and the Swedish Warm blood horses fulfilled these requirements, giving the breeders good reasons to be proud.
The Swedish warm blood horses can be found in colors like chestnut, brown or bay. You can also find them in gray and roan, but not commonly in black as they are very rare. These horses are well suited for international equestrian sports because they have the elegance, the gait and the attitude that is required for these sports. Apart from this, the Swedish warm blood horses are very sound and they have the capacity to absorb whatever is taught to them. These horses are very good for riding as well. They have very good jumping ability. Apart from these qualities, the Swedish warm blood horses are extremely handsome and versatile.
Since the Swedish warm blood horses are very good for driving, they are in demand in countries like UK and US and are exported to these countries in large amounts.
