The Ukranian saddle also known as the Ukrainian Riding Horse gets its from Ukraine where it is bred. This breed was first bred at Dnepropetrovsk stud after World War II and was aimed at meeting the increasing demand for sports horses. It is now being bred at stud farms in Yagonitsk, Aleksandriisk and derkulsk. Though the breed is fairly young to the world, it displays a whole lot of well-established features which are now evident because a highly selective process that has gone into its breeding. The breeds that went into developing this excellent breed are from the blood of the Trakehner, Hanoverian and English Thoroughbred added to local mare stock or with mares from Hungary known as Furioso and Gidran. The offspring from these were finally interbred to give the Ukrainian Riding horse. The finer horses were crossed with the Hanoverian breed whereas the heavy ones were crossed with the Thoroughbreds. Both the Hanoverian and Thoroughbreds were the only two breeds that contributed to improving the grade of the Riding Horse stock ever since the original ones that were formed. Originally, breeders focused on using the stock of the now extinct Russian Saddle Horse to get the Ukrainian Saddle Horse. Russian Saddle Horse blood can still be found in the Bespechney line of horses.
