Lady Judith Wentworth of Sussex in Britain was the original breeder of this horse who also quoted that this pony was the most elegant of all ponies that ever walked the earth. The breeding programs for this pony were setback for many years due to the fact that a registry was not yet setup in order to promote the breeding all around the world.
According to the Welara registry, these ponies should range from 46 to 60 inches in height and be half Arabian and half Welsh. On maturing these Welara stallions should be measurable within 14 to 15 hands. These ponies are a significant part of the Welara breed heritage. Though it is not a regulation, the Arabian stallions are usually bred with Welsh mares to achieve this breed which feature the style, substance and stamina of both the parent heritages
