Welsh Pony for sale

The Welsh pony breed is consisted of four varieties of ponies with origins in Wales. They are categorized into sections A, B, C, D. These ponies are used mainly for training children and young adults in riding. The modern day Welsh pony is well known as a riding and pulling pony, very popular among kids. These ponies exhibit great intelligence, affable personality and substance. Training these ponies is incredibly convenient. The usage of these breeds for equestrian purposes including riding for satisfaction and exhibition in competitions. The Welara is a descendant of this type of horse. These breeds also crossbreed with other types of horses with ease.

The Welsh ponies have been around in Britain long before the advent of the Romans. They have accustomed and adjusted themselves to the harsh climate and tough terrain along with scarce vegetation and strong winters. This breed of horses have been used for many purposes ranging from ploughing to pulling a cart or a coach transporting people. Many were even used to transport coal from mines when mining turned out to be a factor of economic development in the early 19th century.

The physical characteristics of this breed are good hooves, thick skeletal structure, contoured shoulders, a steep chest, a back which is not so lengthy, excellent neck musculature, powerful hind parts and a properly packed and compact ribcage. These exhibit excellent style, endurance and substance. These are the ideal riding variety.

The Dyoll Starlight which was a cross between a Welsh and Arabian breed is a significant stallion among the Welsh type since 1900. This stallion is attributed as the father of the modern day Welsh pony. The town of Aberaeron saw the erection of a statue of a Welsh cob stallion in 2005 which was given to the town by Welsh Ponies festival of Aberaeron.
